The Octennial Array was quickly activated under Dustin’s order. A white light shone from

each side of the octagonal formation at the edge of the foggy area. The white lights

soared skyward, eventually converging high above.

Then, it descended into a vast curtain of light, enveloping the entire foggy area. The light

curtain was translucent. When viewed from the outside, it looked like a giant eggshell.

At this moment, within the spell’s area, the Dragon Guard members could feel the ground

beneath them rumbling as they ran. The hard ground suddenly became soft, like a mud

pool.

Besides that, there seemed to be a strong suction force coming from underground. They

felt like they were being sucked into the mud pool with every step they took.

“What’s going on? Why is the ground so soft?” The sudden change threw everyone in the

Dragon Guard members off guard.

Even though they were skilled martial artists, they had never been in a situation like this.

Regardless of where they stepped, the ground would turn into a mud pool and pull them

under. The more they struggled, the stronger the pull became.

To save themselves, they could only turn to their internal energy to resist the strong

pulling force.

However, this would tire them out even faster. If they were unable to leave this mud pool

before their internal energy was used up, they would be pulled into the mud pool and die

of suffocation.

“Elder Reed, could this be due to the Disorientation Spell too?” The man in black asked.

“This is most certainly not due to the Disorientation Spell. It’s another spell, “The red-

robed elder frowned and said quietly.

“If my guess is correct, we’re in a spell within a spell. The person who cast the

Disorientation Spell added another stronger and more bizarre spell on top of it!”

“A spell within a spell? There’s someone on earth who is proficient in spells like these?”

The man in black paled.

It was already very rare to use the Disorientation Spell. For a person to cast another spell

on top of it would be a task that was one hundred times more difficult.

He really had no idea who would be behind this.

“Elder Reed! Help me! Save me, please!

“At this moment, a weaker member of the Dragon Guard team could be heard screaming

nervously.

The red-robed elder looked in the direction of the screams and saw that the person was

already halfway sunk into the mud pool. As he looked, the person continued sinking.

It didn’t matter how much he struggled. It was still useless. At this rate, this person would

be buried alive within the next moment.

“Useless!” The red-robed elder frowned and looked very displeased. Nevertheless, he

didn’t ignore his cries for help.

He raised his hand and lifted him up without touching him. It was a very strong pull from

above as the person was forcefully extracted from the mud pool.

However, after saving him, the rest of the team was being sucked into the mud pool as

well, one after another.

“Elder Reed! I’m going under! Save me, please!”

“Elder Reed! Someone’s pulling on my leg!”

“Fuck! There’s someone under there!”

After the first call for help, screams and cries for help rose in all directions. The whole

team was a mess.

Due to the Disorientation Spell before, most of them were already quite scared and had

been weakened. With a new spell activated, they had no idea how to handle the sudden

change.

“Quick! Call for backup!”

“Right away!” The man in black took out a distress signal flare and shot it to the sky.
